About the author

Hello!

My name is Hans Jeuken, born in 1961, living in Steenderen, The Netherlands. I live together with my cat in a lovely modest house. So basically I am a childless cat-lady who loves doing nerdy things, except, I am male.

I built my first computer in 1982 using a soldering iron. It was a Kim compatible, with a 6502 processor, published by the Elektor magazine. From there I evolved to operating on:

  • Acorn Atom
  • PET CBM8032
  • Commodore 710
  • PC XT compatible with DOS
  • Windows 95 and Windows 98.

In 2000 I was fed up with Windows. I installed a Linux distribution and never looked back. That is also the moment I started programming in Perl. With great affinity for graphical user interfaces, to this day.

In 2003 I published the first version of Tk::CodeText. There was an itch to build that out to a pimp ass integrated development environment. That itch did not come to fruition. Career and other engagements prevented such a large project from happening

In 2019 I got lucky. I was diagnosed with a cancer. A lemon sized lump partially merged with the sphincter of my anus. After deliberation I got my treatments, quite a hefty period i must say. I will spare you the details. I lost an anus and gained a stoma, I am healed from the cancer, but not recovered from the treatment. My professional career has come to a screeching halt.

In 2021 I decided my itch could use some tending. It is what I do nowadays. Over the last couple of years this whole project around Tk::CodeText turned into a bunch of nifty packages for programming applications and this final IDE App::Codit.

Oh yeah, the photo is 9 years old. I was still handsome.

Enjoy playing!
